Cambodian Kids Cafe (CKC)

In Mid february 2012 CKF with the help of The Terrace Restaurant, Plant it Forward and our fantastic supporters will open there Non Profit Training restaurant "CAMBODIAN KIDS CAFE" The fundraising goal for this project is $35000...

For the past 18 months the Cambodian Kids Foundation have been running a project known as "Plant it Forward" The project was the brain child of Donna Cooper (Founder of CKF) and Chris Wright (Head Chef at the Terrace of Maleny). The idea was to create a sustainable income generation program that focused on the growing and selling of fresh and organic fruit and vegetables.

Currently the program runs in Soksan Village which is located in rural Cambodia in Kampong Thom province. Soksan Village is a community of 45 households - all of which are considered to be living well under the poverty line. Since the 'Plant it Forward' program has been running we have been able to build more than 50 wet and dry season garden beds, a Nursery and a well for each household. The gardens are cared for and maintained by the families - each family is empowered to take the initiative to work hard at bettering and expanding upon their gardens in order to increase the amount of income they can make from them.

The Plant it Forward program is supported by CKF and the Terrace of Maleny. More info on Plant it Forward is available on our website www.cambodiankidsfoundation.com.

Due to the success of this Plant it Forward project CKF and the Terrace of Maleny have decided to expand it and open a not for profit training restaurant - The Cambodian Kids Cafe (CKC)

The Cambodian Kids Cafe will aid in funding the foundation and the Plant it Forward Program by buying the bulk of it's fresh produce from the families involved with the Plant it Forward program.

The Cambodian Kids Cafe will be run in partnership by the Cambodian Kids Foundation and the Terrace of Maleny, Chris Wright from the Terrace has had 21 years of experience and currently owns and is the head chef of the Terrace, his input and knowledge is invaluable to this project and greatly appreciated.

FUNDRAISING
Since Plant it Forward began, we have raised almost $20,000.00 at ‘The Terrace of Maleny’ through charity dinners, donated staff tips and events.

If You Would Like to be Involved...
All donations to CKF, CKC or Plant it Forward are tax deductible through Rotary Australia. 90% of all donations go directly into their projects, with 10% funding administration, auditing and accountability.

If you feel you would like to help us with Plant it Forward, especially the Cambodian Kids Cafe, we are obviously happy to accept donations, but equally appreciate that support in the form of ‘spreading the word’ is a big help. If you want to donate via ‘The Terrace of Maleny’, then maybe add a percentage of your meal cost and tell the staff or attend one of our fundraising dinners or events (contact us or ask at the restaurant about the forthcoming events). Perhaps you would like to organise something with your own friends? – a trivia night, a garage sale, a ‘design your own cocktail’ evening or a poker evening (where the winner is the charity!) Get creative and have fun.

If you would like to help in a corporate way, there are plenty of opportunities.

Direct sponsorship.
This may be for a specific piece of equipment; for an actual student; for supply of uniforms or a donation of skills (e.g. graphic design).
Or by communicating with business contacts in Cambodia who may be interested to be involved.

Benefits
All donations are tax deductible.
Companies will gain a philanthropic profile.
Friendships and/or company ties can be strengthened through this common cause of doing good.
Potential future business contacts in Cambodia.
Publicity for sponsors – on printed matter at fundraising events, on CKF website, in Facebook pages.

Accountability
Monthly updates to key sponsors
Monthly Facebook reports
Skype calls about restaurant progression
All major sponsors will always be welcome to inspect the Cambodian Kids Cafe and be our guest for meals.
